October 12, 2017 —

The Spa and Sauna Company, a hot tub, swim spa and sauna dealer with 3 retail showrooms serving the greater Fernley, Reno and Lake Tahoe area shares tips for emotional well-being.

Scott Clark, president of The Spa and Sauna Company says that good emotional health is vital to a happy life and helping people deal with challenges in a positive manner.

Relax and Get Rid of Sensory Overload – Sensory overload used to be a relatively rare problem, but today, surrounded by electronic gadgets, constant work issues, crowded roads and even shoulder-to-shoulder pedestrian traffic, people are constantly bombarded with stimuli that can cause exhaustion and anxiety.

Dealing with things that are unavoidable on a daily basis is one of the most important steps in regaining emotional strength. A great way to do that is to soak in a hot tub or portable spa on a regular basis.

The temperature controlled heat allows total relaxation while the soothing jet massage relieves tight muscles and stress. Hot tubs installed in the yard or on a patio make it simple to have constant access to stress relief at any time of the day or night. In fact, not having to deal with traffic to get to a spa and not having to share the hot tub with strangers also increases the value of a backyard spa.

Avoid Drama – Take the time to recognize stressful situations and catch them before they start. Sometimes, it may not be possible to completely avoid stressful situations and drama, but don’t let those times become overwhelming. Instead, take control of them, speak assertively and refuse to take part in gossip or take on more duties than are manageable.

Positivity is Contagious – One of the simplest things people can do to manage their emotions, control outside negativity and be happier, is to smile. Being positive is contagious, but people often allow negativity to take over. Simply smiling in stressful situations allows the body to relax, even if others in the surrounding area do not comply and follow suit. Surprisingly, smiling and being happy through a tough situation can have a great effect on everyone, helping them to become happier and more relaxed as well.

Oct 18, 2018

BEIJING — Electric auto brand Tesla Inc. said it signed an agreement Wednesday to secure land in Shanghai for its first factory outside the United States, pushing ahead with development despite mounting U.S.-Chinese trade tensions. Tesla, based on Palo Alto, California, announced plans for the Shanghai factory in July after the Chinese government said it would end restrictions on full foreign ownership of electric vehicle makers to speed up industry development. Those plans have gone ahead despite tariff hikes by Washington and Beijing on billions of dollars of each other's goods in a dispute over Chinese technology policy. U.S. imports...

Shanghai airport automates check-in with facial recognition

Oct 18, 2018

SHANGHAI — It's now possible to check in automatically at Shanghai's Hongqiao airport using facial recognition technology, part of an ambitious rollout of facial recognition systems in China that has raised privacy concerns as Beijing pushes to become a global leader in the field. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport unveiled self-service kiosks for flight and baggage check-in, security clearance and boarding powered by facial recognition technology, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Similar efforts are underway at airports in Beijing and Nanyang city, in central China's Henan province. Many airports in China already use facial recognition to help speed...

BEIJING — China's trade surplus with the United States widened to a record $34.1 billion in September as exports to the American market rose by 13 percent over a year earlier despite a worsening tariff war. Exports to the United States rose to $46.7 billion, down from August's 13.4 percent growth, customs data showed Friday. Imports of American goods increased 9 percent to $12.6 billion, down from 11.1 percent. Chinese exports to the United States have at least temporarily defied forecasts they would weaken after being hit by punitive tariffs of up to 25 percent in a fight over American...

Losses on Wall Street ripple through Asia; stocks slump

Oct 18, 2018

SINGAPORE — Asian markets were broadly lower on Thursday after Wall Street slumped on a heavy selling of technology and internet stocks. Japan's benchmark fell by an unusually wide margin of 3.9 percent and China's main index lost 4.3 percent. Markets in Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and Southeast Asia recorded similar declines. Investors are wary of possible further U.S. interest rate hikes. That will raise the cost of corporate borrowing and could drag on economic growth. The U.S. Federal Reserve recently raised short-term interest rates for the third time this year, with one more expected before the year ends....
