Mansell McTaggart Reports That West Sussex Property Prices Are Outperforming South East

Recent house price data shows that West Sussex property prices have grown 1.5% compared to a growth of 0.1% across the South-East region.

Sussex and Surrey-based real estate agent, Mansell McTaggart, has reported that recent house price data is showing a modest growth of sold property prices by 1.5% in the year to January 2019. In comparison, a growth of 0.1% has been recorded in the South-East region as a whole. Prices across the previous three years since January 2016 have shown a growth of 11% in West Sussex compared to 9% in the South-East.

Gordon Andrews, Senior Director of Mansell McTaggart, said, “These sort of levels of growth are healthy and much more sustainable than the double-digit growth that we saw each year before 2008. I have always believed that property is a good investment, especially in the medium to long-term, and that prices are still growing despite the uncertainty facing the UK right now, certainly bears that belief out.”

Although both the UK economy and property market have been suffering in 2018, property data in Q1 2019 shows that there has been an increase of 31% new properties compared to Q4 2018. In addition, the number of new buyers registering rose by 65% in the same period.

Although common to see an increase in property availability in early spring than in the period before Christmas, Jaime Wallden, Senior Director at Mansell McTaggart, commented, “The growth in new buyers exceeding the growth in new instructions shows the market for property in Sussex remains healthy, despite the uncertain times politically and economically for the UK!”
