Solar Electric Scooter, the revolutionary new transportation vehicle utilizing solar polar, is live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and raising funds to bring the project to life.

For most day to day urban living, sometimes a car is just too much and a bike too little. Enter the Solar Electric Scooter, a solar powered bike that aims to bridge the gap for most daily trips.

“My aim is to replace most of your local car trips with a lighter vehicle, where you stay in contact with the surroundings,” says founder David Larsson on the inspiration behind the project. “You will feel the wind on your chin and sense the smell from the bakery you pass by. You can make a quick stop and talk to pedestrians, without leaving the vehicle.”

The Solar Electric Scooter is a simple and clean design. It is a bike with added functionality, not a cheap car. This means users can use the bike lanes and reach their destination faster. It is also robust enough to suffice for most daily transportation needs, with room for two grocery bags and a seat long enough for two - or even three, where this is legally viable. It should also be possible to securely mount a seat for small children as well.

“Fixing the climate is something I care much about. The Solar Electric Scooter will not make that single-handedly, but it can make a great contribution. Solar energy is a wonderful resource that we could use a lot more and electric transportation surely is the way to move things in the future. Why not combine the two of them?” adds Larsson. “I would love to see this vehicle as the basis for rural electrification in low-income countries. You know, charge batteries with your vehicle and bring it into your house for lighting and to charge your cell phone. And of course I want to see them rolling down bike lanes in the U.S. as well.”

Foreign experts accounted for less than 1 percent of research personnel at Korean companies, a report showed Tuesday, with companies identifying visa and related administrative issues as the biggest obstacles to hiring foreign workers in the field. According to the report by the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA), there were 72,224 corporate research and development organizations registered with the association in 2025.
